Natural Everyday Makeup Routine

natural everyday makeup routine

To complement my morning routine, here is a post dedicated to how I do my natural everyday makeup.

First off, I am by no means a makeup/beauty expert. I really don’t even own much makeup- the products shown here probably make up (haha make up… makeup… get it??) 80% percent of all the makeup I own. I do, however, tend to end up using products in unusual ways… so if you’re interested in finding out how, read on! 🙂

Fresh face

First things first, I always start with a fresh, moisturized face. Unless you’re going for a dry, scaly look, moisturizing before applying anything else is super important.

Face: Concealer + Foundation

I am always on the search for a good creamy concealer (still haven’t found the perfect one yet!), because for some reason I’ve never been able to fully cover the dark circle under my left eye . I swear I get enough sleep! If you have any suggestions then please, please, please let me know. But anyways, I simply pat the concealer under my eyes to cover any darkness as best as I can.

Okay this is the first unusual part. I like mixing my foundation with Bobbi Brown’s CC Cream that is supposed to brighten up dull skin. Does it really? I’m not sure, but I do like how it looks with the foundation. I actually got the CC Cream from my mom some time ago and did not know how to use it at first. On it’s own, it’s this pale pinky lavender colour, which in all honesty, is kind of scary. I don’t bother with powder anymore- it dries out my skin and I prefer dewy looks anyway.

Brows

If I could only choose one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be some kind of brow product. When I’m awfully lazy I sometimes just put on some brows and head out the door.

I use two products that are definitely not meant to be used together, but has been working well for me. First off, I lightly fill in my brows with a brow powder, then shape it and clean it up with a brow pencil. To finish off, I like to use the spooly end of the pencil to fade out the inner sides of my brows so it looks a little bit more natural.

Eyes: Shadow + Mascara

I go pretty simple with my eyes. I like to add a neutral light shade on my brow bones using a mix of the shades Venus, Foxy, and W.O.S. from the Naked Basics palette. For the outer corners of my lids, I actually use my Hoola Bronzer. Kind of strange, I know- but it’s a perfect warm matte shade that works perfectly as eyeshadow!

After curling my lashes, I put on a coat of my trusty mascara- Maybelline’s the Falsies Waterproof mascara. I have literally been using this since high school. I’ve tried a couple of other mascaras, but always find myself going back to this one. I know waterproof mascaras are horrible for your lashes, but it’s the only thing that seems to make my lashes stay curled.

Face: Blush + Highlight

For blush, I just lightly dust on a light coral shade, focusing on the apples of my cheek and lightly bringing it up to my temples. Then, I use a pink-toned complexion brightener from Clarins over the blush to bring more life to my face. It’s definitely supposed to be used as a primer… but seriously, who cares?

No make up look is complete without a highlighter (am I right, girls??). I discovered L’oreal’s Magic Lumi Pure Light Primer this past summer and have been loving it ever since. It can be used as a primer or a highlighter, but I usually use it as the latter. Just dot the product on your cheekbones or anywhere else you want to highlight, gently pat it in, and you’re good to go!

The final step to brightening up my face is to use the mini version of Benefit’s Watt’s Up in the inner corners to about 2/3 across the bottom of the eyes, and use a finger to blend it out. I don’t think this product is supposed to be used like this, but it works really well. It honestly makes you look 10 times more awake.

Lips

My go-to lip product lately has been NYX’s butter gloss in the shade cherry pie. I don’t like lip products that feel heavy on my lips, and this literally feels like a very moisturizing lip balm.

And that’s it- my everyday makeup routine completed!

Hopefully you aren’t sick of seeing my face by now… 😉
