Culottes have made a comeback this past Spring/Summer, but they’re definitely a clothing piece that can easily be styled into the colder season. Since I got my hands on a pair of basic culottes a couple months ago, they’ve become one of my favourites in the closet.
They are super versatile- you can style them for pretty much any occasion. If you’re worried your legs will be cold in the winter, the wide pant legs make it easy to layer a pair of leggings underneath. No one has to know!
I’ve put together two simple looks on how I would typically style them for the day and night.
Culottes By Day
An easy way to wear culottes in the winter is to pair them with a sweater and some booties. If you have a simple pair like mine, literally any sweater will go. I like tucking in my sweaters because it elongates your legs, but leaving them out would give you a nice, layered look.
The pieces are simple, but the contrasting texture between the flowy material of the pants and the chunky boucle of the sweater makes it a lot more interesting.
To stay warm and block out the wind, I layered over a faux leather jacket.
Culottes By Night
For the night look, I dressed up the culottes by switching out the knit sweater and black booties for a matching crop top and a pair of chunky platforms.
To tie the look together (and to keep me from freezing), I threw over a cozy knit cardigan. I’m all about comfort and this is probably the comfiest outfit I’ve ever worn for a night out.
What are some of your favourite all-year-round pieces?
